Laura and Steve Nichols opened Mr. Rooter Plumbing in 2008. They had previously owned a septic only business and when they decided to expand into general plumbing, Mr. Rooter was the way to go! Their daughter Emily started working with them in 2012 after being in banking, originally part-time but is now there full-time managing everything from the
Mr. Rooter can do just about everything you could possibly need from a plumber, except french drains. About 90% of their business is residential, but they are moving more into the commercial market. One thing that I thought was really cool, the technicians use iPads. So unless a customer specifically asks for a paper receipt, they are completely paperless! In the service industry, how a customer is treated is HUGE! When a technician is on the way to the customer’s house, a text will be sent out with the tech’s picture, a brief introduction, and an estimated arrival time. Should the tech be running late for any reason, they are expected to personally call the customer and give them an updated time. No that is staying on top of things!
The Nichols’ currently employ 5 full-time people and a handful of part-time employees, but are expanding fast! They’ll soon be looking to add more service trucks and full-time technicians. So if you know of anyone that needs a plumber, or is looking to be one, keep your eyes Mr. Rooter!
