Utilizing Social Media Platforms

People often decide that they want to utilize social media in order to grow their business, but many question which platform is best used for each form of advertisement. There are multiple platforms that can be used and shaped to your company’s advantage. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube, and the list could go on, but the five platforms mentioned above are the top choices for many businesses.

Which Platform?

Facebook Facebook is set up in a way that can almost combine every other platform. You can post daily, weekly, or monthly and set up specific group or event pages that customers can follow. Facebook posts allow you to link in videos, blogs, or posts from other social media platforms. You can use Facebook to share pictures and information, and it is the perfect way to connect with your customers through the group or event pages.

Instagram Instagram allows the user to post pictures as a way of communication. If you are focusing on specific products or events and want to share snippets of either, Instagram is the perfect way to do that. It allows you to put multiple pictures in a single post and have a small write-up of what it is about right under the picture. Instagram is perfect for companies that have new things to share daily without bombarding their audiences. However, Instagram does not allow you to use a hyperlink in the post, hyperlinks will only work if inserted in the bio of the account.

Twitter Twitter is a platform meant for sharing quick thoughts. Each post on twitter allows only 140 characters, which assures users that the posts, Tweets, will be short and to the point. Twitter is perfect for little business reminders throughout the day or week. You can also link a website or a post from almost any other social media platform into a Tweet, to direct users to the other platforms.

SnapchatSnapchat allows you to send pictures or videos directly to users, or post it on your story. When sent to other users, the pictures or videos delete themselves immediately after being viewed, however when posted to a story, they will remain for 24 hours, for all to view if they so choose. Snapchat stories are the ideal platform for multiple small announcements or new products coming into the store. Snapchat also allows you to use different geo-filters, which are available depending on the poster’s location.

YouTube YouTube is the ideal platform for anyone choosing to market through videos. Once you create an account, you can also create a channel, or multiple channels as a way to organize the different types of videos the company posts. The videos can range from a commercial to a vlog (video blog) to an event showcase. Posts on YouTube range anywhere from daily to monthly, depending on the audience, type and amount of content.
